Number Formation | How to Write Numbers 0-9

Number Formation | How to Write Numbers 0-9 Learnt to write the numbers 0 to 9. It features simple rhymes to help remember how to write the number formation....

Start by choosing one of the strategies that we have been using in class to find the answers to these subtraction sums. Write the sum and answer in your exercise book.

  • Drawing pictures and crossing out.
  • Using fingers.
  • Using objects.

8-3=

10-9=

7-5=

9-2=

6-0=

7-7=

Today we are going to learn a new strategy- subtracting by counting back.

I am going to show you how to find the answer to 9-2= by counting back.

Picture 1
When subtracting by counting back, you do not need to draw the largest amount as this is the number you are starting counting from, you only need to draw how many you need to take away. So if I were to do 14-3= I wouldn't need to draw 14 circles, I would draw 3 circles then count back from 14. See the example below.

Try to find the answers to these sums by counting back. Remember, you only need to draw the smallest amount of objects and count back from the larger number.

13-2=

10-8=

17-9=

19-9=
