Start with a quickwrite of sounds. As your adult says sounds from the phase 2 and 3 sound mats below in a random order, can you write a list of the corresponding letters in your exercise book?

Today we are going to focus on spelling phase 2 tricky words. Open the document below and find the next clean page in your exercise book. Can you copy the tricky words out into your book in a list, saying them as you write them. Then write them out again alongside, again saying them as you write them. Finally, cover the words up and write them one last time, this time remembering how to spell them properly.

Now we want you to write two sentences containing the tricky words you have just been practicing spelling. Your grown up will read the sentences out to you.

 

 

 

The sentences that we would like the children to write are:

 

  • go to the hut
  • no I will not

 

Please tell them the sentence several times without letting them see it on the screen. Then ask them to repeat the sentence back to you, to make sure they know what it is they need to write before they begin.
