This week we are going to move onto subtracting. We have learnt some of the strategies in class already for subtracting using two numbers. Read the number sentence below. 

 

 

9-3=

It says "9 takeaway 3 equals." Remember when we subtract, the amount is getting smaller because we take away.

 

There are different ways we could find the answer;

  • using drawings.
  • using our fingers.
  • Using objects, i.e. lego.

 

You could present it like this-
