Session 1

 

I can use describing words in my sentences.

2. Go to 'Learn' and watch the video about describing words.

3. Go to 'Practise' and watch the video about Barnaby.

 

Activity 1

 

After watching the video, explain to somebody at home what an allotment is.

Make sure you include lots of describing words.

You can watch the video again and make notes, if it helps.

See if you can talk for 30 seconds to somebody, describing what an allotment is.

3. Go to Practise and find 'Activity 2'.

 

Imagine you could create a magical plant. What would it be?

 

What would be magical about your plant?

Would something magical grow on it?

What does your magical plant look like?

Does the magical plant have a name?

 

Write four sentences about your magical creation.

 

My magical plant is small and it sits on my bedside table. yes

My magical plant is white and it grows thousands of sparkly diamonds.yes

 

Remember to use capital letters and punctuation in your sentences and include lots of describing words! 

 

Session 3

 

I can write sentences with description.

 

1. Follow the link from session 1.

2. Tell someone at home about your magical plant from yesterday's lesson.

3. Go to Activity 3.

 

Activity 3: Use your imagination

 

Choose four people that you know and list all the things that each person really loves.

 

Mummy

the colour orange

chocolate

shopping

Then think of a magical plant for each person.  

 

Draw each magic plant - making sure you include notes to describe features of the tree.

 

Write sentences about their magical plant.

Session 4

 

I can develop vocabulary through phonics.

 

1. Follow the link below to access the lesson.

2. Go to 'Learn' and play the simple sounds mini game.

3. Go to 'Practise' and go to Activity 1.

 

Activity 1: Hunting for sounds

 

Pick three sounds that were covered in the 'Simple Sounds' mini game above.

Then go on a hunt around your home or garden and try finding objects that start with the same sound. If you can, try writing the names of the items too.

Try to find five items for each sound.

 

Write down the names of the items you found. yes

Session 5

 

I can develop vocabulary through phonics.

 

1. Follow the link on session 4.

2. Go to 'Practise' and Activity 2. Watch the video about the UK.

 

Activity 2

 

  • Write down the names of the countries that make up the UK.

  • Using your phonics knowledge, try writing down any words that were in the video that you hadn't heard before.

  • Activity 3: Let's write some sentences

     

    Write four sentences explaining what you heard and saw in the video about each country. If you can, try and use the new words you listed in the activity above.
